Once again, I’m mad at Kim Kardashian. I was watching a Keeping up With the Kardashians marathon a few days ago (okay, look, I was sick) and got to the episode in which Kim has her baby, Southeast. I mean North.
In this episode, Kim gets an epidural.
Now, a few months back when the news hit that Kim had given birth, I remember being shocked at the fact that it was “natural.” I was sitting in my bed, waiting for my three-day-old to wake up again, and read in numerous articles that Kim had opted for “natural childbirth.” Now, three days prior, I had a natural childbirth and the horrific images of pain and terror were still vivid in my mind. Therefore, I suddenly had a lot of respect for Kim. For that. Nothing else. Absolutely nothing else.
But, Kim had an epidural.
According to Wikipedia, natural childbirth is as follows: [The] philosophy of childbirth that is based on the belief that women who are adequately prepared are innately able to give birth without routine medical interventions.
More and more everyday, epidurals are becoming routine medical interventions.
Therefore, correct if I’m wrong, but Kim Kardashian’s $1,000 leather pants are on fire.
Kim had her baby via her vagina. Don’t get me wrong, this is awesome. Kim has tons of money and could have easily opted for a C-section in order to not have to push and keep her lady parts in tact.
Vaginal does not mean natural.
The only reason I even care about this faux pas is because natural childbirth, the real natural childbirth, is hard. I mean, hard.
I don’t have anything against women who get medical interventions, but I chose not to, which was an incredibly hard decision to make in the first place but to also stick with through six hours of incredible pain.
I would just like a term all to myself.
What Do You Think?!
